The 5 Self-Help Books That Radically Changed My Life

From trapped in a cubicle to traveling the US in a school bus, I think you’d be surprised at the most common question I get asked when it comes to my life journey.

Not, “How did you do it?” or “What’s the secret to changing my life?” but rather an out-of-left field question that never fails to amuse me.

“What sorts of books do you read?”

Here’s what I do know…a great book CAN change your life, but if you’ve read all the books and can’t seem to figure out the missing piece then watch this video to learn what I look for in a self-help book and how to get the MOST from it. (Sorry for the beautiful eye-roll screenshot…thanks Facebook)

And if you’re ready to get your read on, here’s a list of the 5 Self-Help Books That Radically Changed My Life.

Brené Brown’s The Gifts of Imperfection
If you struggle with perfectionism, self-doubt, feeling like you never quite fit in, or the sneaky devil that is shame, this is the book for you. After reading this book, I stopped trying to be someone I’m not and instead learned to embrace the motto of “I’m imperfect, and I’m enough”. Powerful stuff..

Jen Sincero’s You Are A Badass
The title says it all. From humor to whit to flat-out calling YOU out, my girl Jen is a no-nonsense truth slayer. She knows how to motivate the pants off of you and make you laugh in the process! If you like humor and great advice that sounds like it’s from your sassy older sister, read this one..

Maxwell Maltz’s Psycho-Cybernetics
Don’t be frightened by the title and how…formal it sounds. This gem was actually written in 1960 and is the basis behind Tony Robbins’ philosophies on self-image, visualizations, and creating a lifestyle of success. An easy read, this book has TONS of activities and exercises that work [scarily] well IF you take time to do them!.

Gay Hendricks’ The Big Leap
All about hidden fears and pushing beyond your self-imposed limits, this book is perfect if there’s something big you want to do in life…but you’ve been holding yourself back. In this book, you’ll be prompted to dig your self-sabotaging beliefs up by the root and build your faith in yourself from the ground up..

Elizabeth Gilbert’s Big Magic
There’s a creative, artistic dream inside of all of us whether we are handy with a paint brush or not. In this book, you’re encouraged to explore, question, and think about what creativity looks like for you in your own life and, as a result, those dreams you’ve cast aside will often find a way back into your life after reading this book. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll feel inspired and alive again after this read!.

CHRISTIANA HILL
USA

Hey, hey! I’m Christiana Hill – just a down-to-earth girl who decided life was too short and dreams are too important to sit in a gray cubicle while wearing a pantsuit. Nowadays, I travel the US in my renovated school bus teaching anyone who will listen about the true Art of Bravery and how it can help you live a life where you refuse to settle. Glad you're here!
